the essential
The Sapiac Pavilion, Rural master space, will once again be full as an egg this Thursday evening, to pay tribute to those who keep local rugby alive.
Some already know that they will go on stage, so they have undoubtedly already prepared their little speech. Others will perhaps have a little paper in their pocket, just in case… They all have one thing in common, they represent this so-called amateur rugby which thrills thousands of people every week, every season. It is this rugby that “La Dépêche”, in partnership with the Departmental Committee and the Departmental Council, is once again putting the spotlight on it for the 6th consecutive year, this evening, in Montauban. It is also here, in Tarn-et-Garonne, that this great evening saw the light of day, before being now available in all the departments where our title is present. And Montauban is the last stage of this celebration of this famous “bell tower rugby”. This Thursday evening, we are going to talk oval, we are going to celebrate a season where, as always, a lot has happened, with its joys, and its sorrows, its beautiful sporting and human stories. It is all this news that will be discussed this Thursday evening, in the presence of a godfather of choice, in the person of the international Fabien Pelous. Suspense, emotion, surprises, these will once again be the ingredients of an evening which, we have no doubt, will uphold the values of the Ovalie.
Last October, the jury met for the first time to designate the nominees in the eight categories put to the vote; and it was on November 18 that the votes were launched. Proof that amateur rugby holds a big place, more than 21,000 votes were counted! Long live amateur rugby.
FIFTEEN TROPHIES AWARDED
Open the ban! It is this Thursday evening, from 8 p.m., that the big awards ceremony will begin (welcome participants at 6:30 p.m.). In mid-November, votes were launched for the eight categories submitted to the vote. This Thursday evening we will know who is designated. For a suspense which will be present throughout the evening since this morning, only one reward is known, namely the referee of the season (read opposite).
