To all lords, all honor, it was in her cradle in Bocage Bressuirais that the president of Sdis, Claire Paulic, presided over the first departmental Sainte-Barbe ceremony outside the walls of the departmental management in Chauray. In front of her, elected officials, 400 firefighters were gathered at Bocapole in Bressuire on Friday December 6, 2024 while more than 300 others remained on standby in 47 rescue centers.
The Deux-Sèvres firefighters took advantage of this opportunity to meet up but also to present, with all the required ceremonial, diplomas, letters of congratulations and medals to some of them. But they were also looking over their shoulders at the past year.
What about the restrictions previously announced for our financiers, the Department and the municipal bloc?
Claire Paulic, president of Sdis 79 Bressuire
Starting with their director, Colonel Thibault Niderlender, who recorded 17,640 interventions this year which made it possible to rescue 10,000 people including more than 1,700 road accident victims. These figures reflect the intense activity of the year but it is Claire Paulic's speech which reflects the state of mind of an expectant fire brigade.
“Given the national context, we do not know today what will become of Beauvau civil security which had the ambition of modernizing the French model”worries the president despite the message from Bruno Retailleau read by the prefect of Deux-Sèvres Emmanuelle Dubée. The Minister of the Interior recalls that his government has relaunched this Beauvau of civil security but he cannot forget that he has resigned.
“There is reason to be disconcerted by national uncertainties”worries Claire Paulic. “We navigate by sight […] What about the restrictions previously announced for our financiers, the Department and the municipal bloc? […] We will have to be innovative while preserving budgetary, managerial and social balances. »
Six companies, an emergency number and construction sites
No matter, the management and presidency of Sdis display their voluntarism. Thibault Niderlender recalls the arrival of new equipment (new insulating breathing apparatus, support vehicle for responders, electrocardiograms in ambulances, light nursing vehicle, modernization of the fleet, first super forest fire truck, etc.) when Claire Paulic recalls the territorial reorganization which saw the creation of six companies within 20 minutes of each rescue center. Each received their pennant during this Sainte-Barbe 2024.
It places this reorganization in the context of global warming and an aging population, the effects of which are already being felt on the activity of firefighters. The movement has already been launched within Sdis 79 which will be the first in Nouvelle-Aquitaine to have a new computer alert system and is integrated into the creation of a single platform for receiving calls at 15, 18 and at 112.
Meanwhile, more traditional projects are continuing since the first stone of the Vasles rescue center will be laid soon. The energy renovation of the Chauray management should also be completed in 2025. Finally, the Bressuire emergency center will be rebuilt on the current site next year.
