The Department has distributed an envelope of more than 1 million euros from the proceeds of police fines for the benefit of 30 municipalities to finance road safety improvements.

What is the money from your traffic police fines used for? The answer is simple. Each year, the State entrusts the Department with the task of distributing part of these amounts to municipalities with less than 10,000 inhabitants. This allocation finances developments and equipment improving user safety and access to public transport networks.

In what way? Municipalities send the Department requests for subsidies directly related to the security of their roads (development of intersections, security of pedestrian and cycle paths and vehicle slowing devices, development of parking spaces, installation and development of light signals and horizontal signage, improvement of public lighting, signage around schools, etc.) as well as access to transport networks.

« This financial allocation is a fair return, helping municipalities to equip themselves with priority facilities for the daily safety of their residents.» underlines Yannick Boëdec, Deputy Vice-President of Finance and General Administration.

For 2024, the allocation amounts to €1.12 million. It benefits 30 municipalities and concerns 62 operations, including:

  • Work to improve the circulation of tourist coaches and the creation of a car park and a bicycle parking area Auvers-sur-Oise (164 500 €)
  • Horizontal and vertical signage work Brignancourt (8 160€)
  • The expansion of a municipal car park at the town hall of Jagny-sous- (13 300 €)
  • The development of a pedestrian crossing at the RD922/Rte d'Hérivaux crossroads and a sidewalk connecting the Route d'Hérivaux to the RD922 roundabout at Luzarches (12 700 €)
  • Work to extend the pedestrian path from the RD11 on the Chemin de la Cavée in Moisselles (72 000€)
  • Renovation of sidewalks, rue George Pompidou in Villiers-le-Sec (42 000 €)
