The Mayenne gendarmerie company carried out an anti-delinquency operation, in the north of the department, Monday December 9, 2024. From 7 p.m., around twenty gendarmes were mobilized in Mayenne, Ernée, Pré-en-Pail “and with the gendarmerie surveillance and intervention platoon dynamically in the territory”, specifies Captain Frédéric Moulanier, deputy company commander.
In Mayenne, road checks began on rue de la Madeleine. “Before the end-of-year holidays, we want to be present when businesses close. We are here to dissuade acts of violence and reassure the population,” explains the deputy company commander. With the end of year period, risky behavior increases on the road. “There is alcohol, overspeeding, distractions and darkness,” explains Captain Frédéric Moulanier.
A hundred checks
At the various locations, around a hundred checks were carried out on vehicles with alcohol screening, checks of documents and the state of the lighting. “We do a lot of education for small offenses but we have zero tolerance for alcohol,” announces Captain Frédéric Moulanier. A positive blood alcohol level was punished in Mayenne.
The operation was shortened and ended around 9:20 p.m. – instead of 10 p.m. – “due to a significant number of interventions” linked to several traffic accidents. Another anti-delinquency operation is planned between now and New Year's Day.
