Cierp-Gaud customs officers made a record seizure by intercepting a vehicle transporting 16.7 kg of cocaine south of Haute-Garonne. Two Albanian individuals residing in Spain were arrested. The investigating judge of Saint-Gaudens was contacted.

The customs officers' flair recently led them to Saléchan, a small town in the south of Haute-Garonne located less than 20 km from the Spanish border. During the night of Wednesday December 4 to Thursday December 5, the Cierp-Gaud customs brigade made an exceptional drug seizure. That evening as part of a traffic control operation, they decided to stop a vehicle. Driving: an individual of Albanian nationality coming from Spain, the country where he is resident.

Did he seem suspicious to them or did they have him on track? Either way, this car will be the right one and checking it out will prove very fruitful. While inspecting the car, law enforcement discovered a cache containing 16.7 kg of cocaine. At 65 euros per gram on average, this seizure is estimated at a minimum of 1 million euros. The man was immediately arrested and placed in detention. Then he was handed over to the police.

A second individual presents himself

But the story doesn't end there. Shortly after the arrest of the driver of the “carrier” car, another man spontaneously presented himself at the customs office. The latter thinks that his comrade was kidnapped and kidnapped. He had no idea that he had actually crossed paths with the customs officers. The police understand that this second individual, also of Albanian nationality, is the driver of the opening car.

The investigation, entrusted to the research section of the gendarmerie, must attempt to trace the thread of this convoy, probably at the heart of significant international trafficking. According to our information, the two vehicles were to go to Italy after a stopover in Toulouse. This Friday, December 6, the Public Prosecutor of Saint-Gaudens, Christophe Amunzateguy, decides to refer the matter to the investigating judge of Saint-Gaudens. A judicial investigation is opened for possession, transport and importation of drugs.
