Amateur player, Romain Vandendaele has made it his mission to breathe new life into the Loisirs club Léglantiers, which has been dormant for several years.
Extinct for around 2 years, the Léglantiers Leisure Club could soon be reborn from its ashes and its pitch will once again be trampled by crampons. Romain Vandendaele wants to relaunch the senior team of this club. A challenge that the young man takes very seriously. “I have always watched football on television and I started playing around 4 years ago and I went through several clubs. Currently, I play in Ausauvillers and I have just completed my referee training”.
But the desire for a greater challenge was too strong, as was the desire to give back to his territory what he had given it. “The idea is to do something between friends because we realized that there weren't many associations in Léglantiers so if, on our scale, we can help by bringing a little life through sport, we will have succeeded in our betcontinues the twenty-year-old. I was looking for free land in the area and I knew that the one in Léglantiers was no longer occupied. So I took steps with the town hall to find out how I could recreate a team.”
Around fifteen football players wanted
With the Municipality of Léglantiers, the young man found an attentive ear. The elected officials offered him an agreement that Romain Vandendaele immediately accepted: if he manages to find around twenty motivated players, the municipality will lend them the football field to prepare for the 2025-2026 season. “And we could even have the field sooner, as soon as we find around fifteen players to start trainingsmiles Romain Vandendaele. It's land that meets standards, really great for a small village like Léglantiers. We see that the municipality has invested in it and it’s a shame that there is no team to play on it.”
To build his senior team, Romain Vandendaele is looking for varied profiles, people aged 17 and over, beginners or experienced, who will know how to get involved in the life of this small club. “The idea is above all to introduce people to a sport. We plan two training sessions per week. We will see the days depending on the availability of the players.” Thus, the new team could take its first steps in D5 as early as September 2025.
And why not, in the future, launch a young team if the adult team is doing well.
