the essential
After attending a technical commission on the water development and management plan (SAGE) on Monday, the two unions brought together around fifteen breeders to take stock of the state of the poultry industry this Wednesday in Eauze.
The union campaign is in full swing in the Gers, a few weeks now before the elections of the Gers Chamber of Agriculture. Beyond the symbolic action carried out this Monday in Auch to welcome the new prefect Alain Castanier, the Young Farmers and the FDSEA are continuing their mobilization in recent days in the department.

The same day, a delegation took part in the technical commission on agriculture of the Neste and Gascony rivers development and water management plan (SAGE), in Pessan. The opportunity for them to “propose new solutions, experiments or regulatory developments on water storage, irrigation and advice to be provided to farmers in this area”, as specified in a joint press release.
Other meetings planned for December and January
This Wednesday, in Eauze, a meeting was this time organized around the poultry industry, in the presence of Jean-Michel Schaeffer, president of the French Poultry Confederation (CAF). He was able to take the pulse of the field alongside around fifteen breeders and relay the latest news from Brussels and Paris.
The issue of the second vaccination campaign against avian influenza was notably addressed. “We are uncertain about how we vaccinate from 1is January. It's still a big concern, knowing that the vaccination of waterflies serves as a buffer effect because when we protect ducks, we protect the entire poultry industry”, underlines Guillaume Fauqué, president of JA 32.
Other hot topics were raised, such as inflation, “which causes difficulty in the Label chicken sector”, says Guillaume Fauqué, but also egg sexing, the presence of salmonella in eggs and standards environmental.
Like the poultry industry, the two unions will continue to discuss major agricultural themes during various meetings planned for the coming days: cattle breeding on December 17, field crops on the 19th, viticulture on the 23rd and installation on January 8. “We have several thematic meetings where the idea is to confront our farmers with our national union leaders, to raise our local issues and so that they also pass on information about the work they are carrying out,” concludes Guillaume Fauqué.
