Arrived at the head of the Eur departmental road safety squadrone on September 1st, Commander Emmanuel Isèbe was officially installed in office. The ceremony took place around the kiosk, in the gardens of Louviers town hall this Wednesday, December 4, 2024. “I appreciate the solemnity of this moment,” said Commander Emmanuel Isèbe at the end of the ceremony. This taking of command has a very special character, because generally, the taking of command ceremonies are done quite quickly. This time I waited three months. »
More than 20 years of career
The event was also an opportunity to retrace the career of the officer who joined the gendarmerie in 2002 in the Information and Communication Systems (CIS) department. Emmanuel Isèbe exercised his first functions in the Picardy region before joining the central administration. Experience through varied missions in the field of information systems management.
In 2007, he was appointed head of the GIGN SIC office, a position he held for five years, being responsible for managing communications systems within the unit.
125 gendarmes under his command
In 2012, after several years as an officer under contract, Emmanuel Isèbe was “activated”, thus gaining the status of career officer. Emmanuel Isèbe then specialized in electronic countermeasures before being appointed deputy head of department within the new National Security Forces Agency.
Having just celebrated his 50th birthday, Last September, he took charge of the Eure Departmental Road Safety Squadron, a unit made up of 125 gendarmes. “I was not considered for command of a departmental road safety squadron given my profile,” admitted Emmanuel Isèbe.
40 deaths on the roads of Eure in 2024
You will be keen to strengthen the cohesion and effectiveness of the men and women you command and whom I have entrusted to you today. You will be there to support them, guide them, accompany them, but also help their families who are under great strain.
The new commander of the Eure departmental road safety squadron's main mission is to continue the fight against road crime. More than 40 people have lost their lives on the roads of Eure since the start of 2024. “This is one of the worst years in terms of road safety in the department for at least 10 years,” recalled the director of the office of the prefect of Eure, Camille Fournier, emphasizing “the constant commitment, the courage and the daily dedication of the police on the roads.”
