The Hemicycle is under tension this Wednesday, December 4. Two motions of censure, tabled by the NFP and the RN, should seal the future of Michel Barnier. The vote on the first text, that of the left coalition, scheduled for 7:15 p.m., will be decisive for the government.
A decisive moment in the history of the Fifth Republic. This Wednesday, December 4, the Palais Bourbon will determine the future of the Barnier government. Two motions of censure, tabled by the New Popular Front and the National Rally, will be put to a vote by deputies. A crucial step for the future of the Prime Minister, who on Monday took responsibility for his government to adopt the 2025 budget via article 49.3 of the Constitution.
Discussions will begin at 4 p.m. in the Hemicycle. The interventions will be broadcast live on the National Assembly website and broadcast on CNEWS. Each parliamentary group will speak to defend or criticize the different motions.
LFI opens the debates
For the study of the first text, LFI will open the debate with a ten-minute intervention. The RN will follow with fifteen minutes, just like the Republicans and the Ecologists. The Socialists and Horizons will have approximately ten minutes each. The presidential camp, Together for the Republic, will close with a thirty-five minute speech, before the non-registered deputies, who will have five.
After the discussions, Michel Barnier will take the podium to respond to the various arguments. Parliamentarians will initially vote on the motion tabled by the left.
In the event of rejection, they will look at that of the RN. To bring down the government, an absolute majority of 289 votes is necessary. If one of the motions obtains this result, Michel Barnier will have to present the resignation of his government to the President of the Republic. If both motions fail, the 2025 budget, for which the executive has taken responsibility, will be automatically adopted.
