The residents of Saint-Rémy-en-Mauges, between Cholet and Angers, and other customers of the Co'Pains et gourmandises bakery no longer have their local bakery. The latter recently closed its doors due to lack of customers and resources.
close
Since November 27, the bakery-pastry shop Co'Pains et gourmandises has definitively lowered the curtain. Valentin Chevalier and Tino Leboucher, the managers, opened in September 2021 but had to resolve to close. A buyer has been sought since the summer of 2023 but there has been no concrete lead. The commercial court therefore recorded, on November 27, a simplified liquidation procedure with continuation of activity but the duo of friends preferred to take the lead and closed earlier than expected.
Lack of customers and increase in prices
A poster on the front of the establishment explains the cause of this closure: To the attention of our customers, after several months of financial difficulties, your bakery has to permanently close its doors despite the many adjustments made to try to guarantee the sustainability of your village bakery. The lack of customers as well as the increase in various prices (load, energy, raw materials) will ultimately have got the better of your local bakery. We would like to sincerely thank the residents of the town who have so far chosen proximity for purchases as well as the customers from neighboring towns who travel sometimes every day to come to us. We understand that the closure of your bakery is sudden but know that the decision was self-imposed and that it is not solely our responsibility.
There is currently no bread depot in the town but traders, the town hall and other bakers are working together to find a solution.
