New Aquitaine narrowly surpasses (46 million overnight stays) and Île-de- (43.3 million overnight stays). However, attendance fell compared to the 2023 season with 752,000 fewer nights (-1.5%), a first since the health crisis. This trend is part of a broader logic since on a national scale, attendance decreased by 2.2% between 2023 and 2024.

New Aquitaine is ultimately resisting the drop in attendance better than the others (-6.1% in , -7% in Île-de-France). Only Corsica and the PACA region will see an increase in attendance in 2024, with +6.8% and +1.9% respectively.

Slight drop in campsites

A strong sector of neo-Aquitaine tourism, reservations in campsites represent 62% of the 46.7 million overnight stays during the season. New Aquitaine remains the preferred region for campers in 2024, ahead of Occitanie.

However, attendance is also down slightly by 0.4% compared to 2023, with 124,000 fewer nights. The reason is the very bad weather in September which caused the number of reservations for the end of the season to drop (415,000 fewer nights than in 2023).

Foreign customers are also less and less present in the region's campsites, although they represent on average a quarter of reservations. It decreased by 1.2% over one year, with a significant drop for Spanish campers (-12%). This decrease is offset by good results for backcountry campsites, which see their attendance increase by 2.2%.

Hotels in difficulty

The number of nights booked in hotels in the region is down 1.6% for the 2024 season with just over 10 million nights. It is particularly the business clientele who are less and less present in the neo-Aquitaine establishments. Its attendance will drop by 9.7% in 2024.
