A national strike of the civil service is planned this Thursday, December 5at the call of the CGT, CFDT, UNSA, FSU, Solidaires, CFE-CGC and FA-FP unions. This mobilization aims to protest against the economic measures announced by the government, in particular the 1.2 billion euros in budget cuts planned for 2025the extension of the waiting period for sick leave, the reduction of compensation for days of sick leave and the elimination of positions in educational establishments.
In Dijon and Côte-d’Or, the day may be disrupted.
60% of teachers plan to be on strike
Schools in Dijon and Côte-d’Or will be particularly affected by this social movement of magnitude. Many primary schools could stay closedand after-school services, including canteens, risk being seriously disrupted. Christine Bernery, the co-secretary of SNUipp-FSU 21, underlines the scale of the mobilization: “We are counting 487 schools in the department of the Côte-d’Or. From experience and on the different mobilization days of previous years, we feel a big dynamic. It is estimated that 60% of teachers will be on strike. It's been a long time that we had not posted such a figure, it reminds me of the January mobilizations during the Covid years. »
For the city of Dijon, the municipality updates a dedicated page on eservices.dijon.fr to find out if the courses will be insured, if the canteen will be open or if the extracurricular/TAP will be assured.
Christine Bernery continues: “For the moment, I do not have all the information on the subject middle and high schools more the mobilization risks being of the same order for secondary school.
“Sarko’s words broke the camel’s back”
The anger of teachers does not weaken, amplified in particular by “the declarations of Nicolas Sarkozy to my colleague from the FSU-SNUipp of Bouches-du-Rhône during the signing of his book, it was the last straw. These are lying words ! » replies the co-secretary, “These are insulting remarks ! This kind of recurring attack hurts and it's unbearable. »
The discontent goes beyond professional demands: “There is a very, very strong mobilization and great anger » adds Christine Bernery, recalling that teachers feel more and more discredited.
Events to be planned in the region
Rallies and demonstrations are planned throughout the Burgundy Franche-Comté region, particularly in Dijon and other cities.
The main meeting is set in Dijon this Thursday, December 5 at 2 p.m. on Place de la Libérationwhere unions hope for massive participation to express their opposition to the ongoing reforms.
Disruptions also in public services
Municipal services, including town halls, could also be affected by the strike. For people with administrative procedures scheduled for that day, it is advisable to postpone them or check the opening of the services concerned.
