Dijon city center was lively this December 24 by an event that is both spectacular and magical: the traditional descent of Santa Claus from the Philippe le Bon Tower, a custom that continues since 1951.
Cet unmissable event brought together the people of Dijon on the Place de la Libération, offering them a moment of wonder and magic.
“He went down like a hero!” »
The magic began even before the descent, with a sound and light show projected onto the facades of the Town Hall. But it was the arrival of Santa Claus that was at the center of the discussions. At 6:30 p.m., all eyes looked up to the top of the Philippe le Bon Tower 46 meters high and which has dominated Dijon since the 15th century.
This is where Santa Claus began his descentunder the applause of Dijon, provoking numerous reactions. “We came with our three-year-old son to attend the spectacleand he was amazed. He was shouting 'Santa Claus!' seeing him come down” says Amélie, a young mother. ” It is a magical moment to share with family. »
I saw Santa Claus get off the tower ! It was great, he was really high and he came down with a rope like a hero,” enthuses Théo, 7 years old, still amazed. “Thank you Santa! » he said while eating the papillote that was offered to him.
For the Brichetot family, recently settled in Dijon, this tradition was a real surprise: “We moved to Dijon two months ago and we had heard a lot about this event. This show has impressedespecially in a historical setting like this. The children were treatedwe loved this combination of tradition and festivities. »
