It has been more than four months since Russia has been the leading supplier of soft wheat to Morocco with 650,000 tonnes delivered to date. At the end of the 2024-2025 campaign, deliveries should reach 1 million tonnes, with the possibility of reaching 1.5 million tonnes per year from the following campaign.

Cité by Russian platform specializing in agriculture, APK-Informthe president of the Union of Russian grain exporters and producers, Rusgrain Union, announced that one million tonnes of soft wheat will be delivered at the end of the 2024-2025 campaign which, recalls the same source, extends from June 2024 to May 2025.

“Our goal for this season is to supply around one million tonnes. In the future, we aim to reach an annual volume of 1.5 million tonnes,” he clarified.

The increase in Russian deliveries comes after the signing of an agreement between the National Federation of Cereals and Pulses Traders (FNCL) and Rusgrain Union

Sign on November 29 in Casablanca, this protocol aims to provide a favorable framework for strengthening Russian exports to the Moroccan market.

The world’s leading exporter of soft wheat, Russia has become the Kingdom’s leading supplier, thus dethroning , whose wheat production has fallen significantly this year. From June to the end of November, Morocco purchased no less than 650,000 tonnes of wheat from Russian suppliers. Among the 312,909 tonnes of wheat imported into Morocco last November, 124,379 tonnes (or more than a third) came from Russia.
