An explosion that resonates in the heart of the Parc district and an abandoned car, the hood punctured by a bullet hole. A tragedy was narrowly avoided on Monday evening in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), where a police officer used his weapon, without causing any injuries, after refusing to comply.
It was almost 9 p.m. when a crew from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) spotted and then attempted to check the occupants of a Mégane Renault driving on Avenue de la Liberté, a stone's throw from the Gabriel-Péri stadium. A car whose driver would have, in circumstances which remain to be clarified, ignored the injunctions of the police officers and continued his route towards the Pablo-Picasso district.
According to the police version, the Renault Mégane even hit the BAC car at a door. “It was at this moment that one of the police officers allegedly used his service weapon once,” confirms a police source.
The escapees, however, managed to continue their route towards the top of avenue Pablo-Picasso, where they abandoned their car before fleeing on foot. No arrests have yet been made in connection with this case.
“Two judicial investigations have been opened,” said the Nanterre prosecutor’s office, this Tuesday morning. One concerning the occupants of the vehicle, for aggravated refusal to comply and attempted murder of a person holding public authority, entrusted to the territorial security of DTSP 92, and the other, concerning the intervening police officers, entrusted to the IGPN (general inspection of the national police) following the use of weapons. »
A sensitive investigation in a city traumatized by the death of Nahel, a teenager killed last year by police officers, also during a refusal to comply. His death caused urban riots throughout France.
