On the occasion of the International Day of People with Disabilitiesthis December 3, the Department of Hérault is mobilizing and committing to this cause.

The Department is implementing a series of concrete measures to offer solutions adapted to people with disabilities, such as housing arrangements, support for schooling, or even benefits to compensate for loss of autonomy. These actions aim to offer solutions adapted to each stage of life. Among them:

Support from childhood and schooling

  • Early detection : Maternal and Child Protection (PMI) quickly identifies problems to guide families.
  • School transportation for pupils and students: A dedicated service facilitates inclusion in ordinary schools.
  • Compensation benefits (PCH) : Specific assistance for children under 20 and parenting support for disabled parents of children under 7.

Social and professional integration

  • The Recognition of the Quality of Disabled Worker (RQTH) to promote access to employment and training.
  • THE shelters and ESATs (Work Support Establishments and Services) ensure suitable living conditions for workers in protected environments.

Accommodation

  • Nursing homes and medical establishments : offer adults accommodation, entertainment and adapted activities
  • Home help : Meal delivery, housekeeping and daily support.
  • Specific services : Financing of human assistance, housing arrangements and adapted equipment.

Accessibility and inclusion

The Department is committed to making the territory accessible to all, in particular through:

  • Upgrading infrastructure to standards : The Scheduled Accessibility Agendas (Ad'Ap) ensure the compliance of establishments open to the public, transport and roads.
  • Mobility Inclusion Card (CMI) : Facilitates access to essential services for people with reduced mobility.
  • Inclusive housing : Support for shared living and social interactions in adapted housing.

Leisure, sport and tourism for all

In order to promote inclusion in sport, the Department develops adapted activities:

  • Support for handisports via the Departmental Handisport Committee.
  • Labeled cultural and tourist facilities Tourism & Disability.
  • Platform Hérault Mobility : Guide to accessible tourist sites for people with disabilities.
