L’UFC-Que Choisira consumer defense association, will reopen its Loudéac (Côtes-d'Armor) branch on Monday January 6, 2025. And there is already demand from victims of scams.
Requests before reopening
The two volunteers insist, Tuesday December 3, 2024, in their new office installed at France Services in Loudéac: “It would be good if the people we help would tell us when it was resolved. This allows us to close the file and know if our approach was the right one. »
Dominique LeNagardassistant secretary of the Briochine association, and Marcel Binet, president, have already been contacted by a resident of the Loudéac region, between August and October 2024 for problems with photovoltaic panels.
Even before the Loudéac branch reopens. This will be the case Monday January 6, 2025and volunteers are already being asked to make appointments.
The branch was closed for almost two years due to a lack of volunteers.
Always as a duo
Since then, the association which is active in the department has launched volunteer recruitment campaigns; old ones even come back.
There is a need for volunteers to properly advise and support people. “We always hold our offices in pairs, to be able to discuss files, have another perspective, help on a weak point…” indicates Dominique Le Nagard.
Work on knowledge, listening and perception is very important. You have to know how to listen to people when they come.
Volunteers trained for months
The training of on-call volunteers is long. “We are working on the Consumer Code», Specifies Marcel Binet, former Loudéacian.
“The training lasts between 6 months and 1 year,” he adds. They are trained by the pillars of the association, on litigation, construction, banking.
On writing reasoned letters, on how to sort through requests… “But even for €200, we are there,” adds Dominique Le Nagard.
UFC-Que Choisir is in the process of reviewing its organization at the regional level: “Some volunteers are more experts in a field than others. We are going to make references at the Brittany level. »
In the meantime, the scams never stop: “Our calendar is full until the end of 2024.”
From Monday January 6, 2025, once a month (Monday of the first week of the month), from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment, at France Services (rue de Moncontour, former court) in Loudéac. Contact: 02 96 78 12 76 Monday to Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; [email protected]
