A fruitful exchange took place between the Lotois and Portuguese firefighters during the visit to the Cruz Verde de Vila Real. From November 22 to 24, 2024, Lot welcomed a delegation of volunteer firefighters from Cruz Verde de Vila Real as part of a cooperation protocol aimed at strengthening links between the two firefighters. This exchange, marked by conviviality and the richness of the sharing, made it possible to deepen mutual knowledge and strengthen the spirit of international solidarity. This meeting also highlighted the know-how and technical resources of the SDIS du Lot, through moments of exchanges and demonstrations particularly appreciated by the guests. The quality of the presentations, whether it be the CTA-CODIS, the FPTSR of Gourdon, the Operational Health Support vehicle (SSO), the Logistics Platform or the ADAGE – PCC – CRIMSON project, was unanimously praised. In particular, the presentation of the SSO vehicle and its operational functioning left an impression on the minds of our guests, testifying to the capacity of the SDIS to integrate modern and efficient tools to respond to current and future operational challenges. Highlights punctuated this visit, such as the welcome by the President of the Department Serge Rigal, where speeches marked with respect and camaraderie underlined the importance of this collaboration. The Portuguese delegation also took advantage of a cultural program including visits to emblematic sites of the Lot, thus strengthening their attachment to our territory. “These exchanges not only allow us to share our operational experiences, but also to build strong human bonds. It is a source of pride for our department to collaborate with partners as committed as those of Cruz Verde,” declared DDSIS – Colonel Senior Jean-François Galtié at the end of the meeting. The two parties have already committed to continuing this cooperation, planning new meetings to deepen the themes addressed and broaden the scope of collaborations. This partnership, beyond the technical aspect, fully embodies the values of solidarity and mutual aid which motivate firefighters all over the world. A big thank you to our friends from Vila Real for their visit, which will remain engraved in Lot memories! Communication unit of the Lot Fire Brigade.
