Public sector agents are mobilizing this Thursday 5 for a day of action and strike at the call of the unions. They oppose a plan to combat “absenteeism” of civil servants. The unions demand in particular that the minister renounce three measures which crystallize the anger: the increase from one to three waiting days for sick civil servants, the reduction from 100% to 90% of remuneration in the event of sick leave, and the non-renewal of the payment of a bonus in support of the power of 'purchase. What disruptions should we expect? In Drôme and Ardèche this strike will be especially visible in schools. In terms of demonstrations, two gatherings are expected in Valence and Privas.
Primary schools and canteens
The majority union FSU-SNUIpp announced that school teachers “responded to the call for a strike from trade union organizations” with almost “65% of strikers announced” Thursday in the first degree. In Drôme and Ardèche, one in two schools will be closed this Thursday according to the unions.
Canteens will be closed in four schools in Valencia according to forecasts. A minimum reception service will be put in place by for students enrolled in schools where strike intentions concern at least 25% of teachers (in accordance with the law). “Families are invited to provide a cold meal for children attending the canteen, which will remain open”indicates the city on its website. Three schools are closing completely: Archimbaud and Rigaud elementary schools and Louise Michel kindergarten and elementary school.
In Romansthe canteen does not operate in the event of SMA but agents are present to welcome the students. In this case, parents are asked to bring a cold meal and a bottle of water. “Nursery students enrolled in evening daycare will also have to bring their own snack”. Seven kindergartens are concerned: Montchorel-République, Jules-Verne, Simone-Veil, Jules-Ferry, Les Ors, La Martinette and Jules-Nadi. And nine elementary: Jacquemart, Les Arnauds, Paul-Langevin, Antoine-de-Saint-Exupéry, Jean Monin, La Pierrotte, Jean-Rostand, Lucie-et-Raymond-Aubrac, Les Balmes.
In Aubenasno school will be closed completely and the canteen will be provided in the three schools affected by the strike: Beausoleil nursery school, Les oliviers and Le pont primary schools.
Middle and high schools
“As is often the case, it is complicated to anticipate the rate of strikers in secondary education” explains Christophe Dumaillet, co-secretary of FSU Drôme. He says he expects a fairly significant mobilization, “we shouldn’t be far from a majority strike”. According to him, in certain middle and high schools the mobilization of agents should be significant and lead to disruptions, particularly in terms of school catering.
Hospitals
A priori, the strike should not affect the hospitals of Drôme Ardèche: no walkout of agents planned. On the other hand, the CGT Santé de la Drôme is calling for a rally in front of the Valence hospital, at 2 p.m.
Police officers
And notice of indefinite strike among municipal police officers has already been underway since November 15. They announced that they were joining the civil servants' strike on December 5. “It’s hard to see ourselves intervening with sick agents”argued Stéphane Poupeau, president of the national public security union (SNSP), referring to the conditions of compensation for sick leave for civil servants.
Two gatherings in Drôme-Ardèche
The first gathering is scheduled for this Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. in Privas in front of the prefecture, the second at 2 p.m. in front of the Champ de Mars in Valence. A village of struggles is also organized at Place Porte-Neuve in Valence from noon.
