Twenty CM1 students from the Descartes school take part in a unique musical experience: “Brass in Class”. This project, supported by the Greater Villeneuvois Agglomeration, the Academic Inspectorate and the City of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, allows children to discover music in an interactive and collective way. After the Jean-Jaurès and Paul-Bert schools, it is the turn of Descartes to host this system for two years, with the aim of providing students with an enriching experience, both educational and cultural.
A transformative experience
The program allows children to learn four brass instruments: the trumpet, the horn, the trombone and the tuba. For an hour and a half per week, divided between individual workshops and group sessions, students learn not only to play these instruments, but also to develop essential transversal skills such as listening, concentration and cohesion. group. The sessions are led by three teachers from the Béla Bartók conservatory in Grand Villeneuvois. Each student receives an instrument that they take home to practice, which also involves families in this learning journey. The school orchestra also offers a means of strengthening links between schools and local cultural structures. The goal is to allow students to have a complete artistic experience, while enriching their educational journey and promoting their academic success.
