The “Doubs Social Ecological and Solidarity” group, sitting on the Doubs Departmental Council, communicates:
« We denounce the Department's communication concerning the increase in speed to 90 km/h on departmental roads. The figures given by Florence Rocheboz, Vice-President in charge of mobility and infrastructure, do not allow us to take stock of this measure because they concern the entire Doubs road network and not only the roads whose speed has increased. was recorded at 90 km/h.
Far from an “encouraging observation” as has been said, the first assessment is on the contrary catastrophic. In one year, the number of accidents increased by 47% on departmental roads alone after the increase to 90 km/h. The number of injured increased by 33%, that of seriously injured by 55%… The only positive data is the 25% drop in the number of deaths on departmental roads. However, this figure needs to be qualified, because the data ends on July 31. Unfortunately, road tragedies have followed one another since that date.
While the main cause of car accidents remains speed, increasing the speed to 90 km/h is a very bad signal which also adds confusion on the roads. Another vote could also contribute to deteriorating road safety. The snow removal policy has been reviewed and confirms a reduction in the amplitude of interventions for level 2 departmental roads. The passability of half of the network will no longer be ensured after 8:00 p.m. and randomly before 7:00 a.m.« .
