Fabrice Loher's day in Guadeloupe started deliciously: he tasted the dishes of a seafood processing company in Bouillante. Another atmosphere, then in Sainte-Rose, where we also followed the delegate minister: surrounded by elected officials, he heard the expectations of sea and fishing professionals, at the town's port. The sector is in dire need of ways to structure itself.
Like all ministerial visits, the one in Guadeloupe by Fabrice Loher is done at a running pace. The 48-hour program of visits and on-site meetings with the Minister Delegate for the Sea and Fisheries is substantial.
The highlight of his trip to the archipelago is the 43rd Annual Congress of the National Association of Coastal Elected Officials (ANEL), where Fabrice Loher will deliver the opening speech. It will be Tuesday morning.
Very early this Monday morning (December 2, 2024), it was in Bouillante, at the Cap Créole seafood processing company, that he began his journey. Thierry Philippe was there:

Later in the morning, Fabrice Loher went to North Basse-Terre. In Sainte-Rose, he discovered the town's port infrastructure, before speaking with elected officials and representatives of fishing professionals.
The opportunity for these local actors to make their expectations heard, which can be summed up in three words : training, succession and renewal of the fleet. The sector is in great need of structuring, to encourage a vocation among young people, explains Christophe Crail, president of the Sainte-Rose fishermen's association, elected to the regional fisheries committee.

The delegate minister's boat trip, aimed at discovering an anti-sargassum dam, was canceled. The navigation conditions were considered inadequate ; the sea was somewhat rough…
Tomorrow evening (Tuesday December 3, 2024), Fabrice Loher will be the guest of Christelle Théophile, in the television news “Guadeloupe Evening“. The member of the Barnier government will also be on the radio, in the mornings of Wednesday, invited by Claude Danican in “The Big Interview“.
