The gendarmerie mobilized for a leopard seen in the Channel

This crazy story, which we learned recently, dates back to the end of September. One afternoon, the gendarmerie of Coutances, in Manche, received a particularly surprising call from a motorist who reported the presence of a wild animal on the side of a departmental road near the town of Lessay.

Other reports quickly arrived at the gendarmerie emergency call center. Intriguing, the case could become worrying if it turns out that the witnesses were right. To find out, a patrol of two police officers is sent to the place where the wild animal is supposed to be.

Quietly lying on the side of the road

And when they arrived on site, at a good distance, the soldiers noticed that an imposing feline was lying quietly on the side of the road. And even if they are not used to coming across this type of beast, the police easily identify the beast as a leopard.

Slowly, they approach the animal which, according to the gendarmerie, seems “serene and not suspicious”. While only a few meters separate the two men from the formidable predator, the latter remains unmoved. And he even lets himself be petted when the police are in contact. Obviously, since it is a stuffed leopard. The toy, made in real size, created an illusion from afar to the point of panicking people passing by. If we don't know what the stuffed animal was doing there, there is little chance that it got there on its own.
