The socialist deputy for Lozère, Sophie Pantel, announces that she will not vote on the motion of censure which was tabled yesterday by the left alliance. She develops four reasons for making this decision: the first is that nothing is proposed as a political alternative. The second reason is that there is no investment budget, a problematic point for companies. Third point: “the Government cannot initiate a new 49.3. If it has resigned and is only in charge of current affairs, which raises the question of the adoption of the finance bill at the end of 2024 management.” Finally, last argument: the financial consequences for households and businesses could be worse than a very bad budget, according to the MP.
I am not signing it and I will not vote for it. I have other colleagues who do the same. There are others who will not sign it, but who will vote for it. Actually this motion will add difficulty at a time that is already difficult for many French men and women. Generally speaking, I tell myself that between a very bad budget and a major period of political instability for which we have no solution because Emmanuel Macron will not resign… Even dissolving the Assembly will not won't solve anything. For me it was not acceptable as it was.
As for the argument which would lead to say that the functioning of the State would be blocked, she brushes it aside.
On the functioning of the State, even if there is a motion of censure, contrary to what I have read or heard, there will be no operating problems because the Constitution provides for this situation perfectly. In 15 days, if the motion of censure is adopted, we will vote on what we call special laws to operate. On the other hand, there will be no investment budget. And I think that at a time when there are these massive layoff plans in a certain number of companies, particularly in the industrial sector, I think that not having an investment budget, it can be dramatic.
