The tragedy occurred on the D36 near the town of Bonnefamille, near Villefontaine in Isère.
It was around 12:10 p.m. when two cars collided in a very violent head-on collision.
The driver of one of the vehicles, aged around 30, died. The other driver, a 67-year-old man, was slightly injured. He was taken care of and hospitalized.
An investigation will have to determine the causes of the accident.
