At the call of several taxi unions in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, blockade points are planned in the departments of Isère and Rhône. Road traffic is likely to be very disrupted, particularly around Greater Lyon.

In a press release, the Rhône prefecture reports that the mobilization of taxis aims “to block several entrance and exit routes to the Lyon metropolitan area“. Of “fortes perturbations” are to be expected for the day of this Monday, December 2.

Between 2,000 and 3,000 professionals are expected from 5 a.m. in the Lyon metropolitan area. In their sights: the agreement currently being negotiated with Health Insurance for the transport of seated patients, which could be signed in December.

According to Abdel Grine, president of the Federation of Independent Taxis of the Rhône (FTI69), this new pricing arouses anger because it would be “revised very sharply downwards“and would force professionals to do “shared taxi“, he told AFP, before adding: “It's more a movement for the patients we have than for the taxi itself“.

To make themselves heard, taxis in the region planned to converge on Lyon and Place Bellecour. Blockage points with filter dams are planned from five o'clock on the A7 and A43 motorways, at the toll barriers of Saint-Quentin-Fallavier andand Reventin-Vaugrisin Isère.

As a result, the Isère prefecture has taken several traffic restriction measures. On the A43 motorway, the 5.3 and 5.5 “access rampstowards the industrial zone of Chesnes in the direction Chambéry/ towards Lyon” will be closed.

In the town of Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, traffic will also be cut in both directions on departmental 75, between the roundabouts serving the RD 311 and the RD 1006. Several diversion routes will be put in place during this traffic interruption.

All the taxis will converge on Lyon to show their anger. Numerous slowdowns are therefore expected upon their arrival in the Lyon metropolitan area. Blockages are notably announced on the M6, at the Valvert interchange in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune. But also at the “Nœud des Îles” interchange (A42-A46-Rocade Est), on the A43, near Saint-Priest Porte-des-Alpes. The interchange between the A7 and the A450 will also be affected. Finally, a blockage is planned on the A7, near the interchange with the southern urban boulevard (D301).

In a press release, the Rhône prefecture invites motorists to leave their car in the garage and to favor “public transport or teleworking“.

Several filtering actions are also planned near access to the hospital centers of Lyon Sud, Neuro-Cardio, HEH, the -Rousse hospital, Médipôle, the Mermoz hospital and even -Ouest.

The prefect calls “to be extremely vigilant and calm when approaching all blocking points. The demonstration will be supervised by the police throughout the day. But “no lasting blockage will be accepted“, specifies the prefecture in its press release. “Ano action to filter access to hospitals will be tolerated by state services“, state services warn again.
