For 3 days, the Guyana International Book Festival will hold a show at the Zéphyr in Cayenne. This 13th edition has the theme “Meeting Africa and children’s books”. The inauguration took place this Thursday, November 28 in the presence of invited authors from Africa, Brazil, France and Guyana.
In her welcome and thank you speech, N'Zabela Quenum, the president of PromoLivre, the organizing association of the Guyana International Book Festival, warmly greeted the audience, emphasizing, like the elected officials present, the need to maintain dynamism around the promotion of books and literary creativity.
This year 2024 is placed under the sign of Africa with a generation of talented writers, among them Djaïli Amoudou Amal, Wilfrid N'Sondé and Serge Bilé.
Brazilian authors from Macapa are also present for this book festival, thus highlighting the reality of regional cooperation maintained for more than a decade with Brazil.
On the various stands, children's literature abounds. We will note, in particular, the numerous publications of the publishing house Plume Verte and those of the Orphie house.
