the essential
The Fédération nationale des Francas is a French popular education movement which was created in 1944.

It was in front of an audience of around 300 people, including children from many schools, that the Francas de l'Aveyron celebrated the 80th anniversary of the movement. This very dynamic and commemorative morning took place at the Espace Jacques-Rey, in Viviez.

An exhibition recounted the history, with the significant stages. It was in fact at the end of the Second World War that men and women from diverse backgrounds wanted to build a world of peace in which children would have their place. The Franks and Franches Comarades were born!

Values highlighted

Obviously leisure structures have evolved over time, educational issues have emerged such as environmental issues but the humanist values defended by the Francas still constitute benchmarks 80 years later (leisure center, after-school activities, educational outings, camps during school holidays, etc.). Among these values, secularism was particularly highlighted during this anniversary through a comedy dealing with tolerance, freedom of conscience and the art of living together.

This play, followed by a time of discussion, made the young audience react, who then gathered around great games. This event will also have been an opportunity for several generations of activists to give their testimony thanks to a radio station. The Francas would like to thank everyone who took part or supported the success of this anniversary.
