Manche archery is in mourning. Gérard Levavasseurpresident of the Archers de la Rose club in Bouais, in Coutances (Manche), as well as the departmental committee for more than 15 years, is deceased as a result of a long illness ce Saturday November 23, 2024at the age of 70.
The Coutançais, married and father of two children, had chaired the local archery club since 1997. He notably succeeded in obtaining the organization of the French championships in his hometown in 2019, bringing together more than a hundred archers among the best in France.
“A tireless volunteer soul”
“The club has lost a great character and we can only pay tribute to him for everything he brought to the great archery family. Our most sincere thoughts go to his loved ones to whom we assure all our support in these moments of sorrow,” write the Archers de la Rose au Bouais on their Facebook page.
Stéphane Travert, deputy for 3e Manche constituency, also paid tribute to him. “Coutançais, Manche and Norman sport loses one of its historic leaders, who never put aside his tireless volunteer souleven when he had to fight against illness (…). I send all my sincere condolences to his family. »
A tribute will be paid to him during a ceremony memory, this Thursday November 28, 2024at 10:30 a.m., at the Nicorps community hall.
