In Epeugney, preparing for Christmas is no easy task. During this holiday season, volunteers are mobilizing to install the light decorations that will light up the village. Gérard Terrier, retired coachbuilder, is one of those responsible for lighting the town hall and the large tree on the church square. “We are two retirees, but the more of us there are, the easier it is,” he explains. Each year, the association of Safeguarding the Heritage of Epeugney is investing in new decor, but members are calling for more support, particularly in the face of an aging population.
A commitment to safeguarding heritage
Gérard does not stop at simple decoration: he is also a key player in a larger project aimed at renovating the “reservoir path”, a hike that crosses the village water reservoirsdating from the time when they supplied the village with drinking water. The project, which has been in the works for several years, was relaunched during confinement with a path cleaning operation. He now wants to bring abandoned reservoirs back to life, particularly those on the Gaz et Eaux site, in order to ensure more sustainable water management for the village.

Residents' commitment is not limited to simple ideas. The cleaning of an old pond, which had been forgotten by vegetation, showed the extent of the community's involvement.
