On the withdrawal of Erwan Crouan, MoDem candidate

On Tébéo, this Tuesday, July 2, 2024, on the occasion of the debate between the two rounds of the legislative elections in the Carhaix-Châteaulin constituency, Mélanie Thomin (New Popular Front) said she was reassured by the withdrawal of Erwan Crouan (MoDem) “to consolidate the republican arc”. “I salute Erwan Crouan’s spirit of responsibility”. For Patrick Le Fur (National Rally), this withdrawal, “is the union of the carp and the hare”. “Mr. Macron, some time ago, called the New Popular Front all the names and vice versa. Now, they are allying against us”, points out the RN candidate, convinced that the “French will not be mistaken” in the face of these “schemes”. Mélanie Thomin addresses RN voters: “The only candidate who is on the ground is me. I believe that Mr. Le Fur is campaigning more for Jordan Bardella than for the interests of the people of Finistère…”. Patrick Le Fur refutes: “I am on the ground, I embody an alternative to restore order in France…”.

On the regulation of emergencies at Carhaix hospital

The solution to regulate emergencies at Carhaix hospital, according to Patrick Le Fur, is “a reserve system in hospitals”. “All healthcare workers who want to return to work would be exempt from income tax on this part of their work”, says the RN candidate. For Mélanie Thomin, we must “demand the immediate reopening of the emergency department at Carhaix hospital” and undertake “a major reform of the public hospital to make healthcare professions attractive”. “Great success!” says Patrick Le Fur ironically. “You and your predecessors have failed!” “I am an opposition MP and not a member of the presidential majority”, defends Mélanie Thomin. “Your proposal to put retirees back to work is a short-term measure, absolutely not sustainable…”

On the farmers’ angry movement

Regarding the farmers’ angry movement, Mélanie Thomin said she was concerned about the issue of transmission. The NFP candidate intends to attract the new generation and “lead the effort of transitions for sustainable agriculture”. “The solution already comes from respecting their work”, retorts Patrick Le Fur, castigating “the agribashing of the environmentalists of La France Insoumise”. The candidate of the National Rally proposes “to give communities a sort of obligation to buy from our farmers”. While Mélanie Thomin claims to question “unfair free trade agreements voted by Europe”, Patrick Le Fur accused the candidate “of stroking farmers in the right direction and doing the opposite in Brussels and Paris”.

On purchasing power

Regarding purchasing power, Patrick Le Fur pulls out the flagship measure of the president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella: “VAT at 5.5% on all energy products”. The candidate claims that “Macronie waited until the second round to pass an 11.7% increase on gas”. For her part, Mélanie Thomin insists on “increasing salaries and retirement pensions, freezing prices for basic necessities and implementing a progressive tax”. The candidate specified that “through compensation mechanisms, the increase in salaries will not weigh on VSEs, SMEs or local authorities”. As a “boss”, Patrick Le Fur reacted strongly: “You know nothing about Urssaf, the charges of companies…”.
