Senegal and the USA held their first joint economic commission on November 22, since the installation of the current regime. In a joint statement published on the website of the American Department of State, the two delegations indicate that they have congratulated the current Senegalese government for the progress made by the new government in terms of transparency in the management of public finances, reports IGFM.

“The United States welcomes Senegal’s continued cooperation with the IMF to address the findings of the preliminary report on the state of public finances and looks forward to supporting Senegal’s economic reforms and its engagement with the IMF and other international partners. The Senegalese government is committed to continuing its vigorous reform measures in the management of public finances,” informs the State Department.
In their joint statement, the two sides inform that the Commission builds on the shared vision of the two sides to promote bilateral economic cooperation, advance investment opportunities and strengthen trade ties. “ The Commission demonstrates the commitment of the United States and Senegal to bilateral economic cooperation that generates sustainable economic growth and productive bilateral investments for the mutual benefit of the people of Senegal and the United States.”we read in the text.

Senegal and the USA also want to expand and deepen bilateral economic and commercial cooperation, emphasizing “ the importance of economic reform and a strong and innovative private sector to achieve economic growth, with sessions focused on strengthening agricultural cooperation and production, building a sustainable blue economy, strengthening technological partnerships and improving the business climate. »
