Valleys and Plateau d'Ardenne: What to remember from the last community council

The community council was held in the room in Rocroi where the elected officials voted on several decisions on a rather light agenda. There were, however, a few points which attracted attention, in particular concerning the prices of the Rocroi aquatic center, the establishment of shared composters or even the future decontamination of the Prévoyance wasteland, also in Rocroi.

Slight increase on
swimming pool prices

Each year, the price scales of intercommunity structures are reviewed and elected officials have decided to apply a slight increase for 2025 to the prices of the Rocroi aquatic center. “We want to maintain a certain attractiveness while limiting our costs and looking at prices elsewhere.“, underlines the vice-president, Annie Jacquet. Thus, entries to the swimming pool increase overall by €0.10 and activities such as aquagym see an increase of €0.50. On the cafeteria side, a small increase is also applied to dishes, between €0.50 and €1.

Also in Rocroi, an agreement was signed to begin work to clean up the Prévoyance wasteland which could, in the long term, accommodate tourist structures and artisans. A study phase will then begin on the rue Royale site at a cost of €457,000, €40,000 for the municipality, €97,000 for the VPA interco and €32,0000 for the EPFGE. However, President Régis Depaix specifies: “We will obviously do so according to our means and possibilities on the 2025 or 2026 budget.

On the environmental side, an agreement will be put in place with the Valodéa joint union for the installation of shared composting sites in public spaces. A total of 43 bins could be installed in the 31 municipalities in the region to allow residents to throw away their bio-waste which will then be reused and which will also reduce the weight of black bins. “Town halls will be contacted directly to find out if the municipality wishes to acquire one or more bins or not. You will also need to know who will take care of this equipment because the organization can be cumbersome.“, explains the vice-president, Élisabeth Bonillo-Deram.
