A few weeks after the start of the 2024 school year and the launch of Approv'Halles, several colleges Seine-et-Marne noted supply issuesdenounced by parent-teacher associations. “Incomplete meals”, “poor quality products”… In mid-October 2024, the Department, manager of the new food platform, explained that it had taken “ immediate measures allowing us to approach the month of November in better conditions.” Since then, if the parents of students note that the situation seems to be going “a little better”they regret “not having any news from the Department concerning possible reductions for the damage suffered“. The community explains itself.

After the difficulties observed in certain colleges before the All Saints holidays, the situation appears to be improving. What were they about?

The main difficulties encountered since the implementation of the platform were logistical. We have known a failure of the information system provider causing a break in the information chainand involving a manual order management .

A delay of one month was also noted in the connection of industrial equipmentof the platform by Enedis. Finally, adjustments were necessary to the packaging even if the quality of the products is now there.

What measures have been taken by the Department of Seine-et-Marne to remedy its difficulties?

We organized meetings with chefsto present a delivery reception module , simplified at their request, in the computer application. In the medium term, the objective for the Department is to establish its own trading supply markets, namely products not processed by the platform.

They must be launched in December 2024for a bet in application from March 2025 . Our desire remains to guarantee students quality meals, while supporting the local agricultural fabric.

In addition to the colleges in Seine-et-Marne that it already supplies, the Approv'Halles platform, managed by the Department, will serve the high school canteens of the Créteil academy from the start of the 2025 school year ©MB/RSM77

“If some colleges have seen the price of meals in the canteen increase, others have benefited from a reduction”

Parents' unions are demanding financial compensation following the problems at the start of the year. They also denounce a schedule including the payment of two months in one go. Could the Department make a financial gesture?

The developmental delay and of setting up the information system leddeferral of billing school meals, from October to December 2024. A communication was sent to families on Thursday November 7, 2024.

Exceptionally, for the months of October and November, invoices will be issued at the same time. The same will apply to invoices for December 2024 and January 2025. Departmental services are available to parents who wish to assist them in their procedures on 01 64 14 77 77.

Approv'Halles' ambition is to supply canteens with better quality products. In doing so, their price is logically higher to allow producers to be remunerated at their fair value. An increase in prices passed on to the bills that some parents denounce. What about it?

L’ evolution of meal prices fits into a global approachaiming for a responsible and sustainable catering in line with the objectives of transparency and fairness defined by the Department. This tariff revision mainly arises from the introduction of a single rate at the departmental level.

So, if some have seen their prices increase, others benefited from a drop. But it is important to emphasize that the majority of colleges have benefited from a reduction in prices.
