It is in the town of Millau that some residents were able to discover a “violence meter” printed on the bag of their baguette, this Monday. This action to raise awareness of gender-based and sexual violence took place on the International Day for Gender Equality, according to information from Actu.fr.
This tool, which makes it possible to measure the intensity of violence against women, takes the form of a graduated and colored ruler. Thus, 15,000 baguettes of bread were sold in these printed bags, in the south of Aveyron.
Thirteen bakeries mobilized
To manage to distribute as many printed sachets of the “violometer”, some thirteen Millavois bakeries got involved. This tool is used to raise residents' awareness of the notions of consent in intimate relationships and allows them to have a more precise idea of the degree of violence of certain acts.
And these atypical distributions of wands were able to take place thanks to the association of several actors who fight against sexist and sexual violence, such as the CIDFF, family planning or even Adavem 12. As a reminder, 3919 is the number national to call in cases of violence against women and intra-family violence.
