Good news for the boat-chapel I Servemoored on the Quai de la République, in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines).

While the activities of the small church on the water, a true floating institution with a religious and social vocation, seemed threatened Last April, the association Bateau Je Sers (Abjs) published a rather reassuring on his Facebook page.

“The mission of the Augustinians of the Assumption is extended for one year,” writes the collective. The Abjs therefore announces “to continue its activities until the summer of 2025.”

Created in 1935 by Father Joseph Bellanger of the boatmen’s church in response to the emergence of new poverty, linked to the aftermath of the Great War and the crisis of 1929, Je Sers was crowned by the Académie française, then recognized as being of public utility on December 22, 1952.

Food parcel distributions are organized there every Saturday morning. The barge has also long housed many Tibetans who fled the repression of the Chinese regime, via the association La Pierre blanche. For security reasons, the structure that still welcomes these refugees can no longer accommodate them since 2018.
