“Things had to be said and they are.” Near BFMTV this Monday, Brigitte Macron spoke for the first time on the Mazan rape affair.
Unconditional support
The wife of the President of the Republic said her “unconditional support for all women”.
Before adding: “It's true that we see me more in the field of childhood and adolescence but I am with all women in all the struggles. Everywhere we go in the world we see to what extent it is necessary that “We are fighting because rights are increasingly in decline.”
She insisted on the need for vigilance and solidarity: “I want to tell them how much the president and I stand in solidarity with them and we will help them as much as possible. We have to be there and be vigilant.”
Final phase of the trial
The public prosecutor requested the maximum sentence, i.e. 20 years of criminal imprisonment, against Dominique Pelicot for his “despicable actions” having, for a decade, drugged, raped and had his wife raped by dozens of men recruited on the internet.
Dominique Pelicot, 71, has never hidden his responsibility. In mid-September, he described himself as “rapist” and had stated: “I am guilty of what I did (…) I ruined everything, I lost everything. I have to pay.”
The requisitions will continue tomorrow. Before the trial begins its final stretch with the pleadings, and finally the verdict.
