Aymeric Caron (New Popular Front) was re-elected in the first round. In 2022, he won by a small margin against the same opponent, Pierre-Yves Bournazel (Horizons), in the second round. This time, he largely succeeded in his bet.

It was one of the most closely watched duels in the capital between the New Popular Front (NFP) and the outgoing majority. MP Aymeric Caron (NFP) finally won the match, elected in the first round with 50.38% of the vote. He outclassed his challenger Pierre-Yves Bournazel (Horizons) who only received 32.38% of the vote.

In 2022, Aymeric Caron won by a hair’s breadth in the second round: around 1,000 votes separated the two candidates. This time, there is no need to prolong the duel for the MP affiliated with the Insoumis group, who improved his score by more than 8,000 votes compared to the first round two years ago.

The campaign was played out in a tense atmosphere between the two candidates. They challenged each other on the social network X (formerly Twitter) and accused each other of not wanting to debate on television.

The 18th constituency of Paris was one of the few bright spots for the Macronist camp in Paris. The New Popular Front is performing very well in the capital, with at least nine deputies elected in the first round.
