Found unconscious below a steep track
Last Friday, a big game hunt took place in the territory of the commune of Poët-Laval, not far from Montélimar, in the Drôme. During this, a 70-year-old hunter was found unconscious and in cardio-respiratory arrest by his hunting colleagues. The victim was discovered below a fairly steep track, five meters below.
An intervention by the gendarmerie helicopter
Emergency services were alerted by the hunters and immediately went to the scene. Despite attempts at resuscitation, the victim could not be saved and was pronounced dead shortly after by a doctor. A gendarmerie helicopter had to intervene to evacuate the body of the unfortunate septuagenarian due to the very uneven topography of the area.
An open investigation
The Montélimar public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the causes of this death and the gendarmes are carrying out the investigations. Fatal fall or malaise are the two avenues favored by investigators. The entire Chassons.com editorial team would like to extend its most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of this hunter.
