Swiss Cycling is launching Nexetis, a women’s road cycling team in 2025. Its goal: to take young athletes to the next level and celebrate sporting successes with them.

This new structure will have the status of a continental team – the third level of the UCI behind the WorldTeams and the ProTeams, new arrivals on the women’s circuit in 2025. “There is currently no team in which our young cyclists can develop , none that encourages the Swiss,” explained Thomas Peter, director of the national federation on Monday during the presentation of this new training in Zurich.

For most talents, trying their luck abroad after the junior period is often too complex. “That is why we are now filling this gap with Nexetis,” added Thomas Peter. The association is not pulling out all the stops, but can already count on two Swiss companies known in the cycling world as sponsors.

With Jasmin Liechti

Nexetis is not aimed at runners of the caliber of Marlen Reusser, but at young people like Jasmin Liechti, silver medalist in the under-23 time trial at the World Road Championships in Zurich in September. “Nexetis gives me space and time to continue my development,” declared the 22-year-old Bernese to explain her signing with the Swiss team, she who also had other offers on the table.

With national coach Edi Telser, a recognized coach is integrated part-time into the project. He will be responsible for coordinating with the runners and will sometimes act as sports director. The cadre currently includes eleven athletes from three nations. The Polish Anna Wiese will act as “team manager”.
