POLITICS – They saved their skin in the first round. While many legislative candidates are preparing to go back to campaigning and hold their breath before the second round on July 7, some are already assured of regaining their seat in the Assembly. To do so, they had to collect more than 50% of the votes in the first round on June 30: and 76 of them have achieved this feat.

On the left, 32 candidates win in the first round. The First Secretary of the PS Olivier Faure will thus be able to regain his seat in the Assembly. The same goes for Mathilde Panot (LFI) in Val-de-Marne, Clemence Guette in Val-de-Marne, Manuel Bompard et Sebastien Delogu (LFI) in Bouches-du-Rhône, Bastien Lachaud (LFI) in Seine-Saint-Denis, Ugo Bernalice (LFI) in the North, Marie-Charlotte Garin (The Ecologists) in Isère, Martine Froger (PS) in Ariège.

In Paris, many candidates of the new Popular Front won their ticket to the Palais Bourbon at the end of this first round, starting with Emmanuel Gregoire who beat the incumbent Clément Beaune in the 7th constituency. In the 5th constituency, Pouria Amirshahiwho is making his return to politics for this election, takes over from Julien Bayou in the fifth constituency.

Victory is also assured for Sophia Chikirou (6th constituency) and Daniele Obono (17th), already elected in the first round in 2022, Eva Sas (8e), Sandrine Rousseau (9e), Rodrigo Arenas (10th), Sarah Legrain (16th) and Aymeric Caron (18e).
