With eight electric vehicle charging points available in the urban area, Saint-Brieuc is not among the most connected cities in this area. “I have been told for a long time that the city was not up to par on this subject, that there were very, very few of them,” acknowledged Hervé Guihard, the mayor of Saint-Brieuc, ahead of the city council meeting on Monday, July 1.

The municipality has therefore decided to change gear. And the elected officials voted, this Monday evening, to award a call for expressions of interest to the Siit & Bouygues énergie service group. The latter will deploy, starting in September and for four months, sixteen charging stations in the four corners of the city, corresponding to 48 new charging points.

Express, city, proximity

In detail, five so-called “express” stations will be installed on traffic routes. Like the Croix-Saint-Lambert, the Place de la Cité sector, the city center or even the train station. Seven “city” stations, for a full charge in 2 hours, will be positioned “where there is a density of needs. Near administrations or services, in particular”, explained Nadia Druillennec before the city council. Finally, four so-called “proximity” stations will meet residential charging needs. “This could be the case at Place Nina-Simone, for example”.

The parking lots to come?

“This first draft”, for which the group invested €1.50 million, should help meet growing needs. “It also helps encourage the switch to electric vehicles,” says Hervé Guihard. “I have also written to social landlords so that they respond to the needs of their tenants in terms of social leasing.”

Other investments could strengthen this initial offer. “We are also undertaking work to have a similar offer in enclosed car parks,” announced Didier Le Buhan, deputy for finance.
