A low pressure system heading towards Quebec this week will mark the end of the relatively mild fall period, while the cold and snow will arrive on Tuesday.
But southern Quebec could benefit from some clearing at the start of the week with generally sunny weather below 5 degrees, particularly in Montreal and the Outaouais.
But elsewhere, the weather will be gloomy with rain or snow in certain areas, while the mercury will be falling, according to Environment Canada.
For example, in the center of the province, the weather will generally be cloudy, and snow is even expected in mountainous terrain in Estrie and Saguenay.
The same scenario of cloudy weather accompanied by rain or snow will be in effect in Eastern Quebec where temperatures will be 3 or 4 degrees.
On the other hand, things risk getting worse on Tuesday with the arrival of this weather cocktail bringing precipitation which will cross Quebec.
The federal agency has also issued a special weather bulletin and a freezing drizzle warning for certain areas of southwestern Quebec.
Due to this upcoming cocktail, up to 5 centimeters of snow with a risk of freezing rain and rain are expected Tuesday in the Outaouais and Greater Montreal sectors.
Rain or snow in mountainous terrain with accumulations of 10 centimeters is expected in the rest of the province, where it will be between 2 and 4 degrees.
