It was 2:50 a.m. on the night of Sunday, June 30 to Monday, July 1, 2024, when firefighters were dispatched in large numbers to a apartment fire located on the 4th floor of a building on rue Saint-Just, in Goussainville (Val-d’Oise).

When they arrived, they found that the three occupants, an adult and two children, had taken refuge on their balcony to escape the flames and smoke.

Having taken refuge on their balcony, they were evacuated by ladder

Firefighters deployed a hook ladder to rescue them. At the same time, four other residents were also evacuated. The seven victims, who were slightly intoxicated, were examined by emergency services.

While 47 firefighters were mobilized during the 4-hour intervention, they managed to put out the flames using two hoses. A unit of Investigation of the causes and circumstances of the fire was sent to the site to determine the origin of the disaster.
