The Kingdom’s experience in the field of women’s issues was praised in Prague during a visit by a Moroccan parliamentary delegation to the parliament of the Czech Republic.

« This visit, which is part of a twinning between the House of Representatives and several European parliaments, supported by the European Union, was a great success.“, indicated, in a statement to MAP, the president of the Thematic Working Group on Equity and Parity in the House of Representatives, Najwa Koukouss.

« Our participation in this series of exchanges of experiences with the Czech parliament was fruitful, in the sense that all the parties we met welcomed the Moroccan experience in terms of equality issues and women in general, especially since the 2011 Constitution allowed for several achievements in this area“, welcomed the parliamentarian at the end of this visit, carried out last week.

In the same vein, Ms. Koukouss mentioned Morocco’s achievements in terms of increasing the representation of women in the two houses of parliament, local authorities and positions of responsibility, in addition to bringing laws into line. national laws with the Constitution and international conventions.

« The current request from parliament consists of the creation of spaces favorable to women with a view to contributing to their effective empowerment in the political and economic fields.” she added.

During its visit to Prague, the Moroccan parliamentary delegation held a series of meetings focusing in particular on the participation of women in parliamentary action and the strengthening of their presence within the legislative institution and in decision-making positions at both the executive and representative levels.

In addition to the exchange of expertise with the Czech legislative institution, the members of the delegation met several Czech political leaders, in particular the President of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, the deputy Jiří Kobza, president of the group of Moroccan-Czech parliamentary friendship in the Czech House of Representatives and the president of the Czech national section of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Viktor Vojtko.

The Moroccan delegation was composed of the president of the thematic working group on equity and parity of the Authenticity and Modernity party, Najwa Koukouss, and the members of this group, the deputies Hayat Oumenjouj of the group of the National Rally of Independents, Madiha Khyir from the Istiqlalien group for unity and egalitarianism, Latifa Charif from the socialist-Opposition Ittihadi group, Khadija Olbacha from the democratic and social constitutional group, Aziza Boujerida from the Haraki group and Touria Afif from the Justice and Development Party group.
