The remarkable journey of Sourcemind Academy with 1,082 candidates, 108 students and 58 graduates

Webb Fontaine, the leader in trade facilitation solutions, welcomes the launch of Sourcemind Academy in Guinea. This innovative educational venture, funded by Webb Fontaine, aims to transform the technology landscape through cutting-edge training, forward-thinking instructional design, and seasoned professional trainers for aspiring software engineers and technology enthusiasts.

The launch of the Sourcemind Academy in Guinea marks an important milestone in Webb Fontaine’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and promoting the development of education in emerging markets. This project comes in the context of the end of Webb Fontaine’s agreement with the Guinean State, involving a crucial transfer of skills and technologies to ensure the continuity and development of Guinea’s Single Window for Foreign Trade, deployed in September 2019.

Ara Shamirzayan, Chief Technology Officer of Webb Fontaine Group, said: “We are pleased to bring the Sourcemind Academy to Guinea. Developing the next generation of software engineers requires access to quality education and training. Similarly, we believe that education is the key to unlocking potential and driving economic growth and development, and we are committed to making this project a reality in Guinea.”

Mamoudou DIANÉ, Managing Director of Webb Fontaine Guinea, added: “We are extremely proud to collaborate with the Sourcemind Academy to train the next generation of software engineers in Guinea. This initiative is essential to the continuity and effectiveness of Guinea’s Single Window for Foreign Trade after the end of our agreement. By investing in the development of local skills, we not only contribute to the modernization of foreign trade in Guinea, but we also create economic opportunities for young talents in our country. »

Sourcemind Academy has made significant progress in fostering tech talent through five successful training programs in Armenia and Benin. Building on this success, the academy is expanding its scope to Guinea, to enable local students and recent graduates to acquire the expertise and skills needed for a thriving career in the technology sector.

To date, Sourcemind has impacted 1,082 candidates, 108 students, 58 alumni and 11 recruits at Webb Fontaine. The academy curriculum covers a wide range of topics including software development, data structures and algorithms, front-end application development, and more. By training students in these in-demand skills, the academy aims to contribute to the growth of the local technology ecosystem by creating employment opportunities for the country’s youth.

During the first four months of the training program, students will learn the fundamentals of software engineering and gain hands-on experience through an interactive, instructor-led program. At the end of the initial phase, participants will be able to broaden their knowledge by specializing in Java back-end engineering. Students will also be introduced to agile software development and essential interpersonal skills required for success in the IT industry.

This program is open to anyone who is curious about how things work. The candidates sought are university graduates who want to pursue a career in the IT industry, enthusiasts who are open-minded and have a desire to succeed, and anyone who wants to change direction towards software engineering.
