Loaned with an option to buy to FC Metz by Ajax Amsterdam during the second half of last season, the Metz club has decided to exercise the 13 million euro purchase option included in the loan of the Georgian striker. This was confirmed by the Dutch club in a press release on Monday.
“Ajax and FC Metz have reached an agreement for the transfer of Georges Mikautadze. The striker had been on loan for six months at the French club, with a purchase option included in the contract. This option has been exercised, making the transfer of the 23-year-old striker definitive. Ajax has agreed with the French club on a transfer fee of €13 million. The Georgian international’s contract with Ajax ran until June 30, 2028,” we can read in the press release from Ajax Amsterdam.
Mikautadze will not live long in Metz
But the native of Lyon, author of a big Euro 2024 with Georgia, should not stay at FC Metz for all that, being courted from all sides in France. Olympique de Marseille, Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyonnais, RC Lens and even Stade Rennais would be particularly interested in the 23-year-old player.
