After the heavy snowfall from storm Caetano in Orne, the situation has returned to normal on the roads.
Saturday November 23, 2024Enedis announced that 9,400 homes were still without electricity in the Department. In fact, power has not been restored everywhere in Perche.
Some homes have been without water and electricity since Thursday, November 21. This was the case, for example, in Hôme-Chamondot. An electric pole had fallen across the road in the hamlet of La Viconté. But Enedis did what was necessary to secure the place and the work was being finished on Saturday November 23.
Mutual aid with the most vulnerable
The situation remains very complicated in Bretoncelles. This Sunday, November 24, several homes are still without electricity. Daniel Chevée, mayor of the town, has been on all fronts since Thursday. “At 3 p.m. Thursday, we no longer had electricity, telephone and heating.” Thanks to a generator, the town's retirement home could operate.
I even saw a dad who came to warm his bottle for his baby.
The mayor also notices a lot of support, notably from neighbors who bring hot meals to vulnerable people.
Lack of maintenance
However, he notes that the snow caused real damage. The fault, according to him, is poor maintenance.
With the melted snow there are floods following numerous ice jams, trees on the road following the lack of maintenance. Roads weakened by lack of sawing.
The mayor continues his visits to the most vulnerable, and transmits the information to Enedis.
Saturday evening, there were still 82 subscribers without power in the town.
Drinking water
On the drinking water side, “The pumps which supply the water tower have been the subject of particular attention and the technical team has set up a thermal system to preserve the supply”, informs the councilor.
An equestrian center dependent on a booster pump (therefore electric) was supplied with water by the municipality.
In municipalities deprived of water, the Orne Prefecture invites people not to drink tap water for 48 hours after recovery. If necessary, only drink the water after 10 minutes of boiling, and store it in the refrigerator.
The other municipalities
The town of Soligny-la-Trappe was also affected by water and electricity cuts. But the situation would have returned to normal on Saturday.
Several homes are cut off from electricity in Feings. Some families use generators. This is also the case in Coulonges-les-Sablons.
