Firefighters intervened in the Beaujoire sector, north of Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), shortly after 9:30 p.m., Sunday June 30. The intervention deprived 500 homes of gas and electricity.

The incident is impressive but did not cause any casualties. Sunday June 30, shortly after 9:30 p.m., firefighters were called to an electric meter fire, avenue des Récifs, in the Beaujoire sector, north of Nantes (Loire-Atlantique). When help arrived, the fire had spread “spread to a gas meter in a residential home causing a flaming gas leak”.

500 homes without gas and electricity

Firefighters deployed two hoses to extinguish the flames. The house was not affected. During the intervention, due to the risks associated with gas, a dozen residents were evacuated.

GRDF and Enedis cut off gas and electricity throughout the neighborhood, as a safety measure. Cuts which affected around 500 subscribers.
