This Sunday, June 30, 2024 was a voting day throughout France. The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, announced the dissolution of the National Assembly after the European elections of June 9, inviting the French to vote to elect their deputies earlier than expected.

The abstention rate in Sarthe reached 35.56% on the evening of this first round.

Five deputies to be elected

Sarthe is divided into five constituencies and a deputy must be elected in each of them. Between five and seven candidates – and their alternate – presented themselves per constituency.

No MP was directly elected after this first round.

After the announcement of the results, Christophe Rouillon announced that he was withdrawing in favor of Jean-Carles Grelier.

Voters will have to vote again in a week, on Sunday July 7, 2024, for the second round of the legislative elections in order to choose which political color will be the majority in the National Assembly.
